Ganavan Sands
– Oban’s own beach. Go left at the roundabout
as you head North out of Oban and follow the road
along the harbour front for about 2 miles –
also a pleasant walk. The beach can be busy but
peace can usually be found by carrying on the rocky
path beyond the beach which eventually leads to
Dunstaffnage. |

Tralee Bay – another popular
family beach but big enough to cope. Drive North
from Oban A828 over the Connel Bridge to Benderloch.
Park in the centre of the village and follow signs.

Calgary Beach, Mull
– the origin of the Canadian City can be found
at the Western end of the B8073 past Dervaig. Beautiful
sand and excellent refreshments at nearby Hotel.

the aid of the Ordnance Survey map and a little
adventure. There are many treasured spots throughout
the islands – try Iona,
the Ross of Mull,and
the minor coastal roads around Seil
and the Ardfern area. |
